July 1 starts a new membership year - Be sure to purchase both your class and the Seasonal Membersip if you have not purchased either the Seasonal Membership or another GEFSC membership for the July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025 membership year.
Class Levels:
Snowplow (Ages 3-5): It's all about fun! Get your skater on the ice by introducing them to the basics. Our snowplow levels (1-4) get them moving by allowing them to feel comfortable on the ice.
Basic Skills (Age 6+): Our basic skills classes get your skater comfortable with moving across the ice! Upon completing the 6 levels your skater will master skills necessary to succeed in hockey or figure skating!
Pre-Free Skate/Free Skate: This class is for skaters who have accomplished the Basic 1-6 curriculum. This class will transition your skater from the basic skills to the more advanced within the Learn to Skate structure.
Teen/Adult: This class is for teens and adults of all skating levels.
Class instruction is from 5:45-6:15 PM, followed by Practice Time for the remaining 15 minutes where skaters can practice their skills, participate in on-ice games, or receive additional 1-1 instruction through Booster Lessons (additional registration required for 1-1 Booster Lesson).
Booster Lessons:
These supplemental lessons provide one-on-one instruction to refine skills in your level for Snowplow Sam, Basic Skills, Pre-Freeskate, and Hockey Skills skaters. Booster Lessons will be on the ice with a member of our Learn to Skate staff on Tuesdays at either 5:30-5:45 PM or 6:15-6:30 PM. Purchase includes one 15-minute lesson at the date and time that you register for.
Booster Lesson Cancellation/Refund Policy: Booster Lesson can be rescheduled for another week with 48 hours advance notice. Refunds not available for cancellation or no show.
Specialty Class: Intro to Theatre on Ice:
This session's specialty class is Intro to Theatre on Ice! Specialty classes run for 6 weeks out of the 8-week Learn to Skate session (weeks 2-7) from 5:30-5:45 PM prior to regular classes. Skaters may register for one week at a time at a drop in rate, or register for all 6 weeks at a discounted price! Theatre on Ice is a division of skating that combines figure skating with elements of theatre and dance in a team setting. While this class is not intended to learn a program or prep for a performance, we will teach and develop introductory Theatre on Ice skills like group skating, footwork, and different types of skating movements. This class is a great fit for skaters in Basic 3 through Aspire 4 levels who want to have fun, learn about another side of skating, or may be interested in skating on a Theatre on Ice team in the future.
Important Notes:
Parent/chaperones may view class from the bleachers only. Parents will not be permitted to sit in the players boxes.
GEFSC Learn to Skate is required to uphold all facility regulations.
Learn to Skate will be cancelled if EVSC school is cancelled. Due to sessions planned for the full year, there will be no make up dates or refunds.
